"Hovering Containers & Ripples" by Andrea Wohl Keefe

"Hovering Containers & Ripples" by Andrea Wohl Keefe
On display in Shipley's Speer Gallery from January 6 – February 7, 2020.

Artist Statement:
Wohl Keefe’s work investigates how we see, rather than what we see resulting in artworks that push, pull, and even float. She says, “About 13 years ago, I stopped trying to reproduce what I was seeing. I began to think more about how we see, how we know what we see, and how our beliefs and understandings are built on what we think we see. I use simple shapes to push and pull color. I mash together controlled geometric forms with elements that I have little control over. I use cast shadows and reflected light to highlight the illusion of control.”
