Role of the Board of Trustees

We are also grateful for, and indebted to, the Board of Trustees. Following the formation of the DEI Task Force in the spring of 2020, the Board elevated the School’s DEI work to a Strategic Plan and, on January 9, 2021, adopted the Plan’s Vision, Preamble and Goals, reflecting the Board’s commitment to the School’s work in this area. Over the course of this year, the Task Force has partnered with the Administration in its efforts to finalize the plan. The Board will further support the DEI Plan by ensuring that resources are available and will hold the Administration accountable for consistent, comprehensive, and effective implementation of the Plan’s strategies and tactics.

The Shipley School, a Pre-Kindergarten through 12 coeducational day school, is committed to educational excellence and dedicated to developing in each student a love of learning and a compassionate participation in the world. Through a strong college preparatory curriculum in the humanities and sciences, the school encourages curiosity, creativity, and respect for intellectual effort. Shipley upholds and promotes moral integrity, a sense of personal achievement and worth, and concern for others at school and in the larger community.
