Middle and Upper School Science Olympiad Teams Earn Medals at Regional Tournament

Shipley's Middle and Upper School Science Olympiad Teams competed in the Pennsylvania Southeast Region Science Olympiad Tournament on March 11 at Penn State Abington. ⁠

The Upper School team of Bambi Tang '23 and Richard Liu '25 placed 2nd in the Detector Building event, 3rd in the Remote Sensing event, and 3rd in the Fermi Questions event. ⁠

Nine Shipley US teams earned Top 11 finishes in their respective events, helping the full team place 8th overall out of over 30 schools and will advance to the State Tournament in late April.

The Middle School team's impressive performance at the regional event yielded 12 Top Four finishes:

2nd Place - Flight - Anderson & Colin

2nd Place - Wheeled Vehicle - Henry & Izzy
3rd Place - Crime Busters - Lilla & Izzy
3rd Place - Green Generation - Lilla & Shea
4th Place - Fast Facts - Lilly & Henry
4th Place - Roller Coaster - Nicholas & Ethan
4th Place - Rocks & Minerals - Lucas & Sanjay

The full Middle School Science Olympiad team placed 5th overall out of 20 schools and the A team will advance to the State Tournament, held at Penn State Altoona in late April.
