Shipley Made Me
Shipley changed that. I love the community. I can rely on that web of extraordinary people while seemingly paradoxically maintaining my individuality. Teachers foster my learning as guides as opposed to as strict barking authority figures. I learned to be my own person and appreciate life. As one speaker said, Shipley taught me to "run to the roar." I am an improved person who stands up for what is right because it is right, not because it looks good. I appreciate Shipley for making me who I am today.

Working with Teachers
Dr. Pickering taught me to expect more out of myself, and that if I put my mind to it, I can work out big problems. She pushed me past satisfactory, past okay; she expected the best work I could do at every turn and I'm a better person because of it. Mr. Simpson helped my critical thinking skills by engaging me as a thinker, and talking to me as a peer, as opposed to as some shadowy authority figure. This has helped me learn to advocate for myself and understand that teachers and professors are people who I'm working with, as opposed to working for. That distinction will help me in college and in life.

Plans for Fall 2016?
I will be attending Syracuse University, studying Political Science and International Relations.

Future Ambition
I would like to go into politics, preferably on the federal level. It will give me the best chance to make a real impact on a great scale, and to help out as many people as possible.

Shipley has prepared me to tackle any obstacle.
