What do you love about Shipley?
I thoroughly enjoy watching the children grow and mature throughout the years from lower to middle to upper school. It is amazing how confident, grown up, and independent they become. I have been in a position to teach and coach all divisions at Shipley.
What inspired you to choose education?
I started coaching young kids in college and knew then that this was what I was meant to do. I love to watch them develop and become better players through hard work and determination. I was a coach at Shipley first, then I had the opportunity to become a teacher. I love the energy and self-worth the students give me as a teacher and coach.
What is your favorite lesson, project or activity? Why?
My favorite lesson is the assessment I do with the students at the end of the field hockey unit. They get to pick a partner and go through skill stations and work on all the skills that were taught prior. It is great to see them work with a partner and motivate and encourage each other while learning new skills.
What is your favorite food?
Name something you can’t live without:
My son Colin, the light of my life. He makes me laugh and is so caring and loving. I am so fortunate.
What is your favorite season?
Summer. The beach is my happy place.
What is your favorite quote?
“Hard work beats Talent, when talent doesn’t work hard”
Where was the best vacation you ever had?
A trip to Ireland with my whole family. It was so beautiful - the sights and the people. It was nice to hang out with all my siblings, now that we are all adults and close friends, which makes my parents very happy.
