Becoming a Leader
Shipley has prepared me to step up as a leader in my community. For example, on the cross country team, I set a goal to try and engage conversation with newer team members as I remember being a shyer newcomer my freshman year.

My time on the cross country team was not the only way I participated in the school’s community. I found myself going to student government meetings, despite not being officially elected into a position. Encouraged by my advisor, Maria Stroup, I chose to attend student government meetings and voice my opinions on school events, and on occasion, help to organize and set up said events. I learned that as a leader in any setting, an official title does not determine the impact one makes in their community, but rather the actions of a person determine the impact one makes on their community. With this newfound knowledge, I hope to continue to participate in my college’s community and make a positive impact.

Most Memorable Experience
My most memorable experience at Shipley was participating in Positive Paws, an after-school character enrichment program at our sister school, Andrew Jackson Elementary, in South Philadelphia. The children are so grateful for the time we spend with them on Tuesday afternoons. In reality, it is the members of Positive Paws' privilege to be able to spend time with a great group of kids.

Plans for Fall 2017
For the fall of 2017, I plan to attend Franklin and Marshall College.

Future Ambition
Although a rather over-used cliché my future ambition is to be happy and at peace with myself. My senior year led to this ambition as I started to realize that I am much happier spending time with friends and family, rather than always over-studying without end. In essence, I would like to take the time and focus on relaxing and giving myself a break from time to time.
