Shipley’s Newspaper, The Beacon, Receives Gold Medal Critique

Shipley’s print newspaper, The Beacon, recently received a Gold Medal from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) in the Scholastic Newspaper Print Critique category for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The CSPA is a department of Columbia University in New York City. Publications sent to CSPA for critique are evaluated by a judge and given a score from 0-1000, with 800 and above receiving gold medal status.

“The former editors of The Beacon and I couldn’t be more excited by this recognition,” said Christine Greenwood, Upper School Director of Student Publications. “We have worked hard for many years to address the recommendations for improvement they make on our annual submissions for critique. We are very proud that all the effort has paid off!”
