Shipley Celebrates 125th Anniversary with Super Saturday Under the Lights

Shipley kicked off its 125th Anniversary by celebrating Super Saturday on Saturday, September 29 with a fun-filled day of community events with over 500 people in attendance. The day started with a carnival in Yarnall Gym, with an inflatable obstacle course, photo booth, games for kids, face painting, and more. All proceeds from the carnival benefitted Shipley’s sister schools, the Andrew Jackson School in Philadelphia and the Brain Tree School in Uganda.

A community barbecue featured live music from Shipley students and colleagues. Food trucks Milk + Sugar, Flaming Basil, and Buutchiis Grille were on campus throughout the night. Athletic events included Girls’ Tennis, who took on Princeton Day School. The girls fought hard, but ultimately fell to PDS. Girls’ Field Hockey followed, dropping their game 3-1 to Princeton Day. Next in the athletics lineup was Boys’ Soccer versus Cardinal O’Hara, with Shipley earning a 4-1 victory.

The main event featured Girls’ Soccer, playing under the lights for the first time in School history, against Princeton Day. Although the Gators lost 3-1, the momentum and energy levels were high during this exciting school event.
