Who was your most influential teacher and why?
I didn't have a most influential. All my teachers were influential. Through all the ups and downs of the experiences I've had with my teachers, I found overall lessons. Some of my teachers embedded in me a deep love of the subjects they taught, such as linguistics, astronomy, biology, and English. Some of them helped me understand concepts, especially in math, which I struggled with for a long time. Some helped me figure out what I did and didn't want to pursue in life and what I was sadly ready to put away and move on from. The teachers I had, no matter the amount of time they had taught or known me for, all had an influential impact on me.

What was your favorite class and why?
My Shakespeare class. I love Shakespeare. History and theatre are also my favorites, so class was particularly fun for me. I loved interpreting the meanings of Shakespeare's wording and phrases and I remember always being excited to read the next play. My passion for Shakespeare grew more over my time in this class and I look forward to furthering my knowledge in Shakespeare.

What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
When I first came to check out Shipley and shadowed a previous Shipley student. I remember it was summer and she was finishing her sophomore year. It was very anxiety-inducing, but she and her friends took me out to eat fruit on the warm grass as some of their peers were throwing a football around. I remember stepping into her chemistry class and the tests were being handed out, walking into the LARC with all the kids hanging around because it wasn't just a library but an area for people to spend time together.

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to… be able to move forward in tough situations.

Reflections about Shipley
Shipley has taught me what it is like to be in an uncomfortable situation, one with a lot of pressure and competition. Shipley taught me resilience and I think that I got a taste of what the college and workforce arena is going to be like. I've learned of my potential, how I could have done many different things, gone down many different paths, but the one that I chose was the best for me.
