Who was your most influential teacher and why?
Ms. Workman was the most influential for me during my time at Shipley. Her English 11 class made a big impact on how I write today. Ms. Workman pushes you and holds you accountable with your work, specifically writing. I became a much better writer and I'll always be grateful for that.

What was your favorite class and why?
Science and the Citizen was my favorite class. Mrs. Zodda provided a class where thoughts and ideas were able to be talked about in a respectful manner, while the discussion was led by the students. There was never any pressure and the conversations made us more productive thinkers. Also, she helped us build our debate skills by informing us on how to build arguments, identify tradeoffs, and how to expand upon others' thoughts.

What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
My most memorable experience at Shipley was my junior basketball season. My teammates became some of my best friends at the school and I enjoyed every day. We went through a lot of adversity as a team, and it was not always sunshine and rainbows, but with adversity came growth and I will never forget the time we had together.

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to… go to college with tools that will help me for the rest of my life.

Reflections about Shipley
Two years ago, I decided to make the move to Shipley. I had little knowledge of what would follow but I can say in hindsight that I made the right decision. I began my daily journey to the School from my home in Lancaster. I came only having met a few students that were on the basketball team.

Immediately I recognized how dedicated Shipley was to providing an experience and learning environment that brought out the best in the students. Each and every day the teachers pushed you to a high standard and made sure you were growing as a student. Shipley provided me with many tools and opportunities that will help me for the rest of my life. Prior to Shipley, I thought I needed more time to grow as a student and person. Now I can say I’m going to college with a significant amount of growth. One of the things that Shipley indirectly taught me was responsibility. Every day I was the sole person responsible for getting to school on time, finding a place to stay when needed, and managing my school life. For the first time in my life, I had significant responsibilities, and this helped me exponentially. Shipley was the best decision I made in my life, Shipley has prepared me for the world and the challenges that may come my way.
