Who was your most influential teacher and why?
Ms. Willing because she challenged me and helped me to become a better student. I also really enjoyed her teaching style and the things we learned in her class. I also really enjoyed some of the projects she gave us, which helped me realize how much I love science.

What was your favorite class and why?
My favorite class was Comparative Anatomy and Neuroscience. I liked it because the content was interesting, Mr. Clement is super nice and funny, it was challenging without being overwhelming, and it related to my future career.

What was your most memorable experience at Shipley?
My favorite experience at Shipley was playing field hockey under the lights and having all of the fans cheer for us even though they didn't know how field hockey worked.

Complete this sentence: Shipley has prepared me to… compassionately and empathetically help others.

Reflections about Shipley
My favorite part of Shipley was being able to play three sports, be in the musical, sing in Glee Club, be involved with service, and excel academically. I loved how I got to learn more about myself through each of these activities. For example, I realized that I am a strong leader through playing sports. Throughout my activities and classes, I got to meet so many different people and form many friendships.

In terms of academics, Shipley taught me how to think critically, communicate effectively, and interact meaningfully. Through my classes, I have found many new passions. For example, going into 11th grade American History, I planned to only take one year of history because I didn't think I liked history. After only about a month of Mr. Amidon's class, I realized I enjoy history and decided to take it my senior year as well. Another fond memory from my classes was from a biology project. Ms. Willing partnered me with a student I hadn't partnered with before. I ended up working great with the student and really enjoying the topic we picked. I even found myself doing far more research than necessary because I just wanted to know more!
