Meet Chloe '19

Activities & Positions
I have been involved in varsity girls’ lacrosse and field hockey, and plan on doing both for my senior year. I will be a captain for the field hockey team, which is a role I am looking forward to! I plan on scheduling fun events for the team such as dinners, bake sales, and movie nights. Along with athletics, I am a member of the Shipley musical ensemble and have participated in every musical since my freshman year. This year I had so much fun playing Amber in Hairspray and I am looking forward to my senior year musical!

Favorite Club:
My favorite club is chess club because I get to play chess with my friends and eat tasty snacks. It is a great time to relax and enjoy the day. I am not very good at chess, but it is still a very fun time!

Favorite Class:
I have two favorite classes: Race and Ethnicity Honors and English Honors. Both have taught me to expand the way I think and welcome other opinions. The teachers in both classes are incredibly intelligent and kind. I have always enjoyed the humanities, so I am not surprised I love these two classes.

Favorite Shipley Memory:
My favorite memory is from my junior year when I stepped on stage as Amber Von Tussle in the musical Hairspray. My character was not kind, but she had confidence and spoke her mind. It was fun playing a role that is so different from me but also similar in some aspects (not the mean part!).

Most Valuable Lesson Learned:
I have learned to have confidence in the classroom. I feel welcomed and accepted, and my opinions are valued.

Advice to New Students:
Get involved! If you are new (especially in high school) don’t be afraid to try new things. We have so many amazing activities to choose from! This is a great way to find yourself and make new friends.
