One thing I am proud to say I'm a part of is the Student Government Program and I have been involved since around the 6th grade or so. During the fall I play soccer because I enjoy the sport and just having a good time with my friends is the best. I also play squash in school and competitively outside of school as well. I have been playing squash for about 5 years or so and Shipley's squash program has helped me tremendously.

 

Favorite Club: 

Race and Identity club is a truly organized club and has a lot of discussions and debates on topics that are relevant in our world.

  

Favorite Class:  

English and math are my favorite subjects at Shipley. I have always found something fun and interesting about each topic; for English, I can be creative and math it is almost like a puzzle and a challenge. The teachers and material we go over are so interesting in both classes and there’s always something that gets me engaged.

 

One thing I really enjoyed was reading Romeo and Juliet. Learning how to decode the writing was so fun for me and trying to decode the symbolic details was interesting as well. The book is so fascinating as the English is so old, but the story and themes are still relevant to today.

 

All the clubs you can join, especially since it is about your interests and ideals. The sports programs and games are also going to be great because playing as a team with friends is the best.

 

Don't be shy or scared to talk to people because you will always find someone who relates to you. Making friends at Shipley is easy because everyone shares common interests with each other and being a family is really what we honor. Playing sports and being a part of Student Government is fun and also helps to bond friendships and relationships with coaches or teachers outside of the classroom. Shipley's community is very welcoming so don't be afraid to dive in.
