Meet our Student Ambassadors

Meet Lexi '20

Activities & Positions:
I play both varsity soccer and varsity softball, and next year I will be captains for both teams. I have played both of these sports since freshmen year!

Favorite Club:
My favorite club here at Shipley is definitely Student Government. I have made some of my best friends in this club and I always enjoy working behind the scenes of fun projects that we plan here at school.

Favorite Class:
My favorite class here at Shipley has been Precalculus Honors with Dr. Rebholz. I have always enjoyed math courses here at Shipley, but this has been my favorite by far. I loved Dr. Rebholz’s classes because he teaches effectively, practically, and always makes sure to keep us laughing and smiling throughout. “Doc,” which we refer to him as, is always looking out for his students and wants them to succeed in this class and master this course. I loved his teaching so much I plan to take Macroeconomics Honors with him next year and have even asked him to write my letter of recommendation for when I apply to colleges in the fall.

Favorite Shipley Memory:
Although there are many to choose from, one of my favorite memories here at Shipley has to be winning the FSL (Friends’ School League) Championship my freshmen year for girls’ varsity soccer. This feeling was so rewarding for all of the hard work we had put in in and out of season and what made it even better was winning it with a group of girls who were consistently both supportive and loving of each other.

Most Valuable Lesson Learned:
The most valuable lesson I will take away from Shipley will be to step out of my comfort zone and be spontaneous. Public speaking is a constant fear of mine, but after impulsively deciding to run for class president for junior year, it was the best decision I had made. Although I had to speak in front of the whole grade, I knew I wanted a larger role on student government and ended up winning and earning this role! Sometimes facing your fears brings greater rewards.

Advice to New Students:
My biggest tip of advice to new students would be to get involved in as much as possible! One I always recommend is participating in a fall sport, preseason is a great way to meet students in your grade and even upperclassmen so that come the first day of school you recognize some friendly faces. Also, utilize your club periods throughout the day and get involved in some that you are interested in! Even if you join one and realize you aren’t interested in it, it is a great way to narrow down your passions and make new friends.
