Alumni Service Award - Presented to Jennifer Flint Panetta '88 May 4, 2018

After graduating from Shipley in ’88, Jen attended Hamilton College and graduated in ’92 with a B.A. in Comparative Literature. She owned her own business, Runaway Success, a retail running specialty business providing footwear, apparel, and accessories to runners and walkers at all levels of ability.
Jen has been a member of the Alumni Board and then Alumni Council since 2001, serving as President from 2012 to 2015. She also served as a member of Shipley’s Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2015. Her contributions to Shipley as a volunteer include managing the Shipley Collectibles Booth at Shipley Shops - the only booth where 100% of the proceeds goes back to Shipley - for the past six years. She has volunteered in classrooms by serving as a guest judge in Economics class, and has hosted several Shipley events for alumni as well as for parents. She has served as a volunteer for Shipley’s Spring Auction for the past five years, and she is also a member of Shipley’s Parent Ambassador Network, helping to reach out to the greater community and potential new families to tell the Shipley story and help market and promote our wonderful School to others.
When asked to describe Shipley in three words, Jen offered compassion, encouragement, and preparedness. Featured last year in a “Why I Give” profile, she described how she and her son, Chris ’24, visit Shipley’s Development Office every year, where Chris makes a contribution to the Annual Fund. “It’s important that students understand, starting right away, that it’s more than just tuition that makes their experience possible,” says Panetta.
