Reflections about Shipley:
Shipley has been great to me in my opinion, as the School allowed me to take on leadership roles and forced me to take on tasks outside of my comfort zone. Creating my own club and running for All-School President were definitely two opportunities that took me out of my comfort zone. From creating my own club, I really learned how to lead and control a group of students with poise and preparation. And running for All-School President taught me how not to be afraid of daunting tasks and the competitive nature of politics. One major bright spot in my time at Shipley that I think helped me in my communication and leadership skills was being on the baseball team. While I wasn't the best player on the field, I always thrived to connect with all my teammates and coaches and formed bonds with a lot of teammates I never would have had if I didn't join. This experience also taught me the importance of a great culture within a group and how it can be so contagious and breed winning in a sense. I think these connections I made and my newfound respect for great culture will be important for me in my future when it comes to a time I am in a leadership position later on.
