Teachers Who Care
I had so many wonderful teachers during my four years at Shipley. Each one helped me become a stronger student and person, opened my eyes to new ways of thinking, and inspired me to live each day to the best of my ability. They all cared about my success and always were there when I needed them.

Shaped by Sports
Sports have always been a huge part of my life, but when I entered high school, I was not aware of how strongly they would affect me growing into the young adult I am today. I played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, so I was on a team year round. Even though it may have been basketball season, I still talked to my soccer teammates. That is my favorite part of Shipley: the bonds I created with all of my amazing teammates in all sports. I became friends with students in every grade, all across the school.

In my senior year, I wanted to give back and I was the Co-Head of the Upper School’s Athletics Association. Every day, no matter what season I was in, I looked forward to playing with 100% heart alongside my closest friends. I learned how to hold my own, be strong, and be a leader. I was captain of all three teams my senior year. I have become the young adult I am today because of Shipley’s athletics, coaches, and my incredible teammates. Thank you.

Opening Doors
I never really got into the sport of lacrosse until I went to Shipley, where I excelled in all things related to the sport. I came to Shipley with my main sport as basketball, but sometime around my sophomore summer, my I began to fall in love with lacrosse. Thanks to my amazing coaches (including my soccer and basketball coach), who helped me to grasp lacrosse with passion and heart. Shipley is the reason I am going to continue my athletic career as a Division 1 athlete at an amazing school. Shipley opened so many doors for me and helped me to pursue my strengths and improve my weakness in so many areas of my life.

No Regrets
I feel prepared and willing to take risks. For example, I never imagined that I would get up in front of the whole Upper School and sing a song. I haven’t publically sang since Middle School and I was 100% sure I would not be doing it again. Come senior year, something changed and I walked up onto that stage twice to sing in front of all of my peers. Was I scared? Absolutely. But I knew that if I didn’t do it, I would regret it and I don’t want to live like that. I also never imagined that I would run for a spot on student council, either, but I did. Once again, I am beyond happy that I did something out of my comfort zone.

Plans for Fall 2016
I will be attending La Salle University, where I will continue my athletic career as a Division 1 lacrosse player.

I will be enrolling in the digital arts program at La Salle. I have always loved art and I can’t wait to continue it! My art teachers here at Shipley have helped me to conquer my perfectionist ways and create my pieces with confidence.

Future Ambition
As far as future ambition, I don’t really have a dream job or one big goal to accomplish. My biggest goal is to just live life to best of my ability and, most importantly, be happy and enjoy where I am now. I trust that with all of the experience, skills, and knowledge I have learned from so many parts of Shipley, I will build my own path.

Shipley has prepared me to live my life without fear and to be proud of who I am. Shipley has prepared me to embrace everything about myself that makes me who I am, while teaching me how to become a better person. I learned to take on challenges with confidence and heart. One of the most important abilities I have in sports is my grit. I am not always the most graceful athlete, but I know what I need to do and keep pushing forward. Shipley taught me how to translate that into other aspects of my life. I feel prepared to take on challenges of all kinds and never give up.
