The Shipley Summer Film Camp has been created and developed by professional film industry artists and teachers of the craft of filmmaking and production. During the camp, students will learn the art of creative collaboration, writing, acting, directing, photography, storyboarding, costuming, lighting, and sound design. Through the immersive experience of working with and learning from industry professionals, student campers will gain knowledge about the basics of filmmaking. On the last day of camp, the young filmmakers will present their two-minute short films to their parents and their campmates.
Our film camp aims to inspire a new generation of filmmakers; by exposing young people to a diverse genre of films; by introducing them to high-level industry professional; and by having them work with a professional film editor to edit their 2-minute short. Campers will learn the nuts and bolts as to how the film industry works. They will learn the vocabulary and gain the confidence to join an ever-increasing global community of young filmmakers and production artists.
Lastly, the camp is designed for young artists, interested in the art of filmmaking, that might want to pursue multi-media story telling in high school and or college to get a head start on building their performing arts portfolio.
The camp day will be divided in half. The mornings will focus on film workshops, and the afternoon will focus on acting. The final two days of camp will focus on final acting presentations and on-screen performance in the film.
